Happily Ever After Hearts

14 March 2016 / Art, Design

A beautiful invitation arrived and plans were made to attend.  However as the date drew closer we were unable to go & the bride-&-groom-to-be would not accept a monetary gift for their wishing well in our absence.  So what to do?

Well, I decided to create a gift that could help celebrate their special day.  And I used the invitation as my inspiration for the creating the design.

The Invitation_Ally&Steve

Armed with what I knew of the couple (being generously invited by a family member) and using the floral and botanical themes displayed in the invitation, I choose the medium of watercolour and set out a design to form two halves of a heart. I began with sketching the heart across two watercolour sheets to enhance the theme of two people, two hearts coming together as one.

From a palette of apricots and greens, I interwined colours of red, pink, yellow, orange and purple to highlight and define the delicate design which included a dream catcher for a touch of whimsy.  I then scattered tiny hearts through the design to finish.  Ta Da! Now they are ready for mounting and delivery!  Things crossed, they like them!
