Angelique Smelt was born in England and came out to Australia with her family at age seven. She grew up in South Australia as part of an artistic and creative family and was encouraged to draw from an early age.
Angelique completed her studies in 1996 achieving an honours degree in psychology from the University of Adelaide. She spent a number of years working in human resources and administration both in Australia and New Zealand.
It was in New Zealand that she first decided to return to her love of painting and became a full time artist in 2005.
Using a detailed style, Angelique enjoys working with the vibrancy of acrylics and oil as well as experimenting with the subtlety of watercolour, leaving her always open to new themes in her work.
Angelique returned to South Australia in June 2006 and now resides in Adelaide.
In addition to producing works with Australian themes, she also continues to visit and paint New Zealand’s natural landscapes and wine themes.
